Read: Mark 8:31-38; 9:30-32; 10:32-34
Imagine how the disciples must have felt on the morning after Jesus was buried. Their minds would have been racing to make sense of the surprising events of the previous 24 hours. They had gone from sleeping in the garden, to scattering in the night, and ended up hiding indoors, fearing for their lives.
They would have been crushed after hearing the announcement that Jesus had died. In the stillness of that Sabbath, they would have been left with their thoughts and nothing else to comfort them, distract them, or soothe their fears. They would have been paralized with questions, guilt, and doubts.
Today is a good day to stop and process the events of this week. Reread portions of our study that stood out. Linger with the questions a little bit longer. Process the repeated promises Jesus made that He would rise again. Try to put yourself in the shoes of the disciples and imagine what that quiet Saturday might have felt like.
